Jodhpur to Vrindavan: an overview

From the blue lanes and golden forts of Jodhpur to the temple town of Krishna is a long journey across Rajasthan into the land of Braj, about 583 to 597 km, a full day by road or train. Many pilgrims of the Marwar make this journey to Vrindavan and this guide gives the full distance and routes, the trains, flights and buses and how to plan it well. If you would like it all arranged for you, we run it as a mathura vrindavan tour package with the transport and a local guide.

This guide covers the Jodhpur to Vrindavan distance and the road routes; the return journey; how to travel by road, train, flight and bus; breaking the journey at Jaipur or Agra; what to see in Vrindavan and Mathura; and how to plan. Our how to reach vrindavan guide covers all the ways to reach the dham.

From the ground (Gurudutt): Jodhpur to Vrindavan is a genuinely long haul, so I always tell my Rajasthani guests not to try to do it as a single hard day's drive unless they must. The overnight train to Mathura Junction is the kindest on the body; you sleep and you arrive rested for darshan. If you love the road and want to stop, break it at Jaipur or, better still, at Agra, so you see the Taj Mahal and then come the short way up to Vrindavan. If time is short, fly to Delhi and drive down. Whichever you choose, the last leg ends at Mathura and Vrindavan is only about fifteen kilometres further, an easy rickshaw or taxi ride. Book ahead in festival season, when every train and bus fills. See our Mathura Vrindavan tour Package  or message WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

Jodhpur to Vrindavan distance and routes

The distance from Jodhpur to Vrindavan by road, with the main route options and typical driving times, is given below.

Route

Distance

Time

Via Agra Rd, Agra-Jaipur Rd and Bikaner-Agra Rd (fastest)

About 594 km

About 10 hr 16 min

Via NH 25

About 597 km

About 10 hr 17 min

Via NH 48

About 583 km

About 11 hr 46 min

So the fastest routes are via the Agra Road and via NH 25, both about 594 to 597 km in roughly 10 hours 16 minutes; the NH 48 route is a little shorter at 583 km but slower, about 11 hours 46 minutes. So take the Agra Road route for the quickest drive. So confirm your live route on the day, as times vary with traffic and roadworks on this long journey.

Vrindavan to Jodhpur distance

For the return journey, the distance from Vrindavan to Jodhpur is much the same as the outward trip, about 583 to 597 km by road, roughly 10 to 12 hours depending on the route, with the Agra Road route the quickest at around 10 hours; by train it is about 10 hours from Mathura Junction to Jodhpur. So the return is similar to the outward journey. So allow a full day or take the overnight train. So plan Vrindavan to Jodhpur as a full day by road or an overnight train, much like the way out.

How to travel: road, train, flight and bus

By train: for the long distance, a direct train such as the Marudhar Express runs from Jodhpur to Mathura Junction, about 15 km from Vrindavan, in about 10 hours, an ideal overnight option; from Mathura, reach Vrindavan by taxi or rickshaw.

By car or taxi: a private car takes the Agra Road route, about 594 km in roughly 10 to 12 hours, best for those who wish to stop at Jaipur or Agra; a long but flexible day.

By air: the quickest option; fly from Jodhpur to Delhi, about 1 hour 25 minutes, then drive about 150 km to Vrindavan or fly toward Agra, the nearer airport.

By bus: state and private buses, often overnight sleepers, run from Jodhpur toward Mathura and Vrindavan in about 11 to 13 hours.

Once in Vrindavan, our how to commute in vrindavan guide covers getting around the lanes by e-rickshaw and on foot and the mathura vrindavan temple timings guide the temple hours. So the train is most restful, the car most flexible and flying the fastest. So choose by your priority for the long journey from Jodhpur to Vrindavan.

Breaking the journey: Jaipur and the Golden Triangle

Because the drive from Jodhpur is so long and passes through Rajasthan and near Agra, it lends itself beautifully to breaking the journey. Jaipur, the Pink City, lies about a third of the way and makes a natural overnight halt; Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, lies close to Mathura and Vrindavan, so an Agra stop pairs perfectly with the dham, making a rewarding Golden Triangle and Braj trip. Our agra mathura tour package covers the Agra and Mathura combination.

So Jaipur and Agra are the natural stops on the way. So an Agra halt lets you see the Taj and then come the short way to Vrindavan. So consider making the long Jodhpur journey into a fuller Rajasthan, Agra and Braj trip, rather than a single hard drive.

What to see in Vrindavan and Mathura

Having reached Vrindavan from Jodhpur, the great temples await: the beloved banke bihari temple, the magnificent prem mandir vrindavan and the iskcon temple vrindavan, along with Nidhivan, the Radha Raman temple and Keshi Ghat. Nearby Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna and the wider Braj, Govardhan, Barsana and Gokul, are all within easy reach. Our places to visit near mathura guide covers the region and the best time to visit vrindavan mathura guide the seasons, the cool months of October to March being the most pleasant.

How to plan your trip

For the long journey from Jodhpur, the kindest plan is usually the overnight train to Mathura Junction, arriving rested for darshan; those who love the road can drive with a Jaipur or Agra stop and those short of time can fly to Delhi and drive down. Allow at least a full day for Vrindavan and Mathura, more for the wider Braj. Our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary helps you shape the days.

We arrange taxis and tours to Vrindavan and Mathura for pilgrims coming from Jodhpur and Rajasthan, meeting you at Mathura Junction or Delhi or with a car for the full drive and a knowledgeable local guide for the temples. A shared day tour of Mathura and Vrindavan starts from around ₹1,499 per person, with darshan free at the temples; our one-day vrindavan tour package covers Vrindavan and our two-day mathura vrindavan tour the twin cities, while a private car from Jodhpur can be arranged on request. "We booked the Same Day Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package with Experience My India because we had just one day. The itinerary was planned sensibly, starting early with Krishna Janmabhoomi and Dwarkadhish Temple in Mathura before heading to Vrindavan. We visited Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON and Prem Mandir and still had time to enjoy the evening atmosphere. The driver knew the local routes well, which was helpful around the crowded temple areas. It was a busy day, but we never felt lost or rushed between places."

"Our 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package was perfect for our family. We spent the first day exploring Vrindavan, including Banke Bihari, ISKCON, Prem Mandir and Nidhivan. The second day was for Mathura and Gokul, where we visited Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish Temple, Vishram Ghat and then continued towards Gokul. We especially enjoyed the quieter surroundings at Raman Reti. Having two days meant we could take breaks for lunch and rest instead of trying to fit everything into one packed schedule."

"We chose the 3 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package because we wanted to see more of Braj without rushing. The first day focused on Vrindavan, with Banke Bihari, ISKCON, Prem Mandir, Nidhivan and Keshi Ghat. Day two covered Mathura and Gokul, including Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish Temple and Vishram Ghat. On the third day, we travelled towards Govardhan and Barsana. The extra day made a big difference because we could spend more time at each place and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere rather than simply checking temples off a list."
