From Greater Noida you are on the expressway quickly and then it is just the long, straight, quiet drive with the fields going by. Noida to Vrindavan: the routes

There are a few ways to make the drive, but nearly all of them use the Yamuna Expressway for the main stretch. The main options, with approximate distance and time:

The first two are effectively the same fast run, joining the Yamuna Expressway from Noida or via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway; both are quick and smooth. The Dadri Main Road option is a little longer and slower and is mainly useful depending on exactly where in Noida you start. For most travellers, the plain Yamuna Expressway route is the one to choose. Times are approximate and depend on traffic, the time of day and toll queues; please check live maps before you set off.

Vrindavan to Noida: the return

The return leg, Vrindavan to Noida, is much the same distance and time, again along the Yamuna Expressway. The options, with approximate distance and time:

The straight Yamuna Expressway route is again the fastest for the return. The Akbarpur-Shergarh Road option is slightly shorter in distance but slower in time, as it uses smaller roads for part of the way. As with the outward drive, treat these as guide figures and check live traffic, since the evening return towards Noida can be busier.

Best ways to travel

You can reach Vrindavan from Noida by road, rail or, increasingly, by air:

• By car or taxi (best). The most direct and comfortable way, about 2 hours door to door on the Yamuna Expressway, with the flexibility to stop and to reach the edge of the old town. Fares vary by vehicle and season, so ask us for a live quote.

• By train. Trains run towards Mathura Junction, the railway station for Vrindavan, about 14 km away, from where an auto or e-rickshaw takes you on; you would first reach a Delhi or NCR station to board.

• By bus. Buses run towards Mathura from the NCR, from where you continue to Vrindavan by local transport; the budget option, though slower and with a change.

The Noida advantage: the Yamuna Expressway and Jewar airport

Two things make Noida especially well placed for a Vrindavan trip. First, the Yamuna Expressway: Noida and Greater Noida sit right at its head, so unlike travellers from the far side of Delhi, you reach the fast road almost at once and avoid crossing the city. Second, the new Noida International Airport at Jewar, which sits on the Yamuna Expressway itself, part of the way along this very route towards Mathura and Vrindavan. Its first phase was inaugurated in 2026 and domestic flights have begun in phases, with more services being added over time; because it lies on the expressway between Noida and Braj, it is set to become a convenient gateway for pilgrims, noticeably closer to Vrindavan than Delhi's main airport. Best time to visit

• October to March is the most pleasant season for the drive and for temple darshan, with cool, comfortable weather.

• Start early, by six or seven in the morning, to reach Vrindavan before the midday temple closing and to miss the worst of the return traffic.

• Weekdays are calmer than weekends at the temples and on the road; festival days such as Janmashtami and Holi are the busiest of all.

• The monsoon and the Braj festivals bring their own beauty, but plan for heavier crowds and slower roads.

• Banke Bihari Temple. The most beloved temple of Vrindavan, deep in the old-town lanes, where Bihari Ji is shown in tender, curtained glimpses.

• ISKCON Krishna-Balaram Temple. Known for its serene early-morning aarti, its kirtan and its calm atmosphere.
