Rohtak to Vrindavan Distance: Routes and How to Travel

By Gurudutt, Experience My India·15 September 2026

Rohtak to Vrindavan Distance

Quick Answer

The distance from Rohtak to Vrindavan is about 210 km by the fastest route, and the drive takes roughly three and a half hours, most directly on the Western Peripheral Expressway joined to NH 44. As Rohtak lies west of Delhi, the Western Peripheral Expressway, which rings Delhi to the west, is the natural way to skirt the city and reach Braj; it is faster than looping round by the Yamuna Expressway, which is longer for Rohtak. Being a short haul and a quick one, it makes an easy day trip from the Haryana city of Rohtak to Krishna's Braj. The return, Vrindavan to Rohtak, is much the same, about 208 km. All times are approximate.

Rohtak to Vrindavan distance: an overview

From Rohtak, the Haryana city west of Delhi, the town of Krishna at Vrindavan lies about 208 to 241 km to the south-east, depending on the route, roughly three and a half to four and a half hours by road. The quickest way, about three and a half hours, is by the Western Peripheral Expressway joined to NH 44; as Rohtak lies west of Delhi, this expressway, which rings the capital to the west, is the natural way to skirt the city and reach Braj and is faster than looping round by the Yamuna Expressway to the east. Being a short, quick haul, it makes an easy day trip from Rohtak to Krishna's land, handy too for the Haryana pilgrimage circuit of Kurukshetra and beyond. As Rohtak is a railway junction, the train is also an option. This guide gives the routes both ways; and if you would like the drive, the darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged, a mathura vrindavan tour with Experience My India can plan your day.

From the ground (Gurudutt): For my guests from Rohtak, Braj is close and easy, only about three and a half hours by the Western Peripheral Expressway. Being west of Delhi, you have the good fortune of the western ring road, which slips you past the city straight onto the highway to Braj; do not go round by the Yamuna Expressway, which is longer for you. Come in the morning, do the Mathura and Vrindavan temples and you are home by evening. Radhe Radhe.

Rohtak to Vrindavan: the routes

The routes from Rohtak to Vrindavan, all by the Western Peripheral Expressway, with approximate distance and time:

About 3 hr 35 min

Via SH 18, the Western Peripheral Expressway and NH 44

About 220 km

About 3 hr 43 min

All the fastest routes use the Western Peripheral Expressway, which rings Delhi to the west, joined to NH 44 towards Braj; they run about 210 to 220 km and around three and a half hours. The variations are only in how you reach the expressway from Rohtak. Times are approximate and depend on traffic; please check live maps before you set off.

Vrindavan to Rohtak: the return

The return, Vrindavan to Rohtak, is much the same. The options:

Distance

Time (approx)

Via NH 44 and the Western Peripheral Expressway (fastest)

About 208 km

About 3 hr 46 min

Via NH 44, the Western Peripheral Expressway and NH 352

About 210 km

About 3 hr 55 min

Via the Yamuna Expressway

About 241 km

About 4 hr 29 min

The NH 44 and Western Peripheral Expressway route is again the fastest for the return, at about 208 km and just under four hours; the Yamuna Expressway route, at about 241 km, is the longest and slowest for Rohtak, being a loop to the east. So the western route is the quicker choice both ways. Treat these as guide figures and check live traffic before you leave.

The route via the Western Peripheral Expressway

The key to the Rohtak to Braj journey is the Western Peripheral Expressway, the western ring of Delhi:

  • The western ring of Delhi. The Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal or KMP Expressway, rings Delhi to the west and south; as Rohtak lies west of the capital, it is the natural, fast way to skirt Delhi and join NH 44 towards Braj.

  • Faster than the eastern loop. Because Rohtak is west of Delhi, the western ring is quicker than looping round to the Yamuna Expressway on the east, which is longer; so for Rohtak, unlike cities east of Delhi, the Western Peripheral Expressway is the route to take.

  • A good, quick drive. The expressway is a fast, smooth toll road, so keep your FASTag ready; the drive of about three and a half hours is comfortable and easily done in a day, mostly on good, fast roads.

Where the road reaches the Braj end, our agra to vrindavan distance guide covers the approach to Mathura and Vrindavan.

Best ways to travel: road and rail

For this short, quick haul, Rohtak gives you good choices:

  • By car (best). About three and a half hours by the Western Peripheral Expressway, doable easily in a day, with the freedom to see Vrindavan and Mathura together, only about 14 km apart; a comfortable day trip or an overnight for the wider Braj. Fares vary, so ask us for a live quote.

  • By train. Rohtak is a railway junction on the main lines and trains connect it towards Mathura Junction, the station for both Mathura and Vrindavan; a restful option, though you may need to check connections, from where an auto or e-rickshaw takes you on. Check current trains on IRCTC.

  • By bus. Buses run from Rohtak towards Delhi and Mathura; the budget option, though slower and less direct than a car.

For the drive from the Delhi side and fares, see our delhi to mathura vrindavan distance taxi cost guide and for arriving by train, our tundla to vrindavan distance guide covers the region's railheads.

What to see in Braj, best time and tips

When you reach Braj, the great sights await:

  • In Vrindavan and Mathura. See the beloved Banke Bihari, the marble Prem Mandir with its evening light show and the ISKCON temple in Vrindavan; and the Krishna Janmabhoomi, the Dwarkadhish temple and the Yamuna ghats in Mathura, only about 14 km apart.

  • Best time. October to March is the most pleasant season for the drive and the darshan, with cool, comfortable weather; start early so you reach the temples before the midday closing.

  • Tips. Take the Western Peripheral Expressway route for the quickest drive; in the old towns, cars are kept out of the lanes, so park at the edge and take an e-rickshaw for the temples; see Vrindavan and Mathura together for a full day of Braj.

See the banke bihari temple, prem mandir vrindavan and iskcon temple vrindavan in Vrindavan and the krishna janmabhoomi, dwarkadhish temple and braj yamuna ghats and leela sites in Mathura.

We welcome pilgrims from Rohtak and across Haryana to Mathura and Vrindavan, with a comfortable vehicle, the temple darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged and a Braj-born guide. A shared day tour starts from around ₹1,499 per person, with darshan free. Our mathura vrindavan tour covers the twin cities, our vrindavan tour package Vrindavan in a day, the braj 84 kos yatra the whole of Braj and our agra mathura vrindavan tour package the Taj with Braj; our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary, how to commute in vrindavan and mathura vrindavan temple timings guides help you plan. "We booked the Same Day Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package with Experience My India and had a wonderful pilgrimage experience. The entire day was planned very well, so we could comfortably visit both Mathura and Vrindavan without feeling lost or rushed. Banke Bihari Temple, Prem Mandir, Krishna Janmabhoomi and the Yamuna ghats were the highlights of our visit. The local transport arrangements were particularly helpful around the busy temple areas. Gurudutt ji was very supportive and guided us patiently throughout the journey. The team was punctual, polite and well organised. For anyone looking for a convenient one-day Braj pilgrimage, I would definitely recommend Experience My India."

"Our 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package with Experience My India was a peaceful and beautifully managed family trip. We liked having two days because there was enough time for darshan and sightseeing without constantly rushing from one place to another. Banke Bihari Temple and Prem Mandir were especially memorable, while the visits to Krishna Janmabhoomi and Dwarkadhish Temple gave the trip a deeper spiritual feeling. The team made local commuting simple and comfortable. Gurudutt ji was always available whenever we needed help and explained everything very patiently. The overall coordination was excellent from the beginning of the trip until we returned. Experience My India truly made our Braj yatra comfortable and memorable."

"We recently completed the 3 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package with Experience My India, and it was an experience our family will cherish. Having three days allowed us to explore Mathura and Vrindavan at a relaxed pace and spend meaningful time at the temples. We enjoyed the darshan at Banke Bihari Temple, the beautiful atmosphere of Prem Mandir and the peaceful moments near the Yamuna ghats. We also had time to explore more of Braj rather than limiting the journey to only the main temples. Gurudutt ji was courteous, knowledgeable and personally attentive throughout the trip. Everything felt well coordinated and comfortable. I would gladly choose Experience My India again for our next pilgrimage."
