A Mathura Vrindavan tour itinerary works best over two days, because the flagship temples in each town — Banke Bihari in Vrindavan and Dwarkadhish in Mathura — both close around midday. So each town needs its own morning. Spend day one in Vrindavan, then give Mathura an early second morning built around the 6:00 AM Yamuna aarti at Vishram Ghat.

Banke Bihari opens at 7:45 AM in summer and closes around noon (see the full Banke Bihari darshan timings). Dwarkadhish and the Krishna Janmabhoomi rituals in Mathura peak in the same early window. You cannot give both towns a calm morning darshan on the same day. Plan Vrindavan for one morning and Mathura for the next, and the whole trip falls into place.

Day 1
5:30 AM
Depart Delhi (optional). If you are starting from Delhi, leave by 5:30 AM. The Delhi to Vrindavan route of about 180 km takes 2.5 to 4 hours, and an early start keeps it near 2.5 hours.
9:00 AM
Banke Bihari darshan. Reach the lane before the crowds thicken. The jhanki curtain darshan at Banke Bihari Temple is the heart of Vrindavan. There is no VIP ticket, so arriving early is the only real shortcut.
10:30 AM
Radha Raman and Nidhivan. Radha Raman is one of Vrindavan's oldest temples. Nidhivan follows, the grove believed to host the Raas Leela at night, which is why it closes before evening.
12:30 PM
Lunch and rest. A sattvic thali through the midday window when several temples close. Check into your Vrindavan hotel.
4:30 PM
ISKCON Krishna Balaram. Kirtan at ISKCON Krishna Balaram Mandir, the samadhi of Srila Prabhupada and a calm garden, ahead of the Sandhya aarti at 6:30 PM.
7:00 PM
Prem Mandir. The white marble complex as the lights come up, ending with the musical fountain show at 7:30 PM in summer (check the Prem Mandir timings). This is the photograph everyone remembers.
Day 2
6:00 AM
Yamuna aarti at Vishram Ghat. Start on the water. The morning Yamuna aarti at Vishram Ghat lasts about half an hour and sets the pace for the day.
6:30 AM
Dwarkadhish Mangala aarti. Dwarkadhish is a three-minute walk up the alley from the ghat, and its Mangala aarti begins at 6:30 AM (see Dwarkadhish darshan timings). Two of Mathura's greatest moments before breakfast.
8:00 AM
Krishna Janmabhoomi. The birthplace of Lord Krishna. Security at Krishna Janmabhoomi is tight and phones and bags are not allowed inside, so leave them in your vehicle and carry only yourself.
10:30 AM
Vishram Ghat lanes and Mathura peda. Walk the Chatta Bazaar lanes for bangles, and taste the peda that Mathura is known for.
12:30 PM
Depart. Head back to Delhi or onward to Agra. You have given each town its own morning, which is the whole point.

Crowd season
On festival days the plan changes shape. Janmashtami falls on 4 September 2026, with Radha Ashtami a fortnight later, and Holi lights up Braj in spring. On these days the approach roads and temple lanes see extreme crowds, and timings shift. Stay overnight inside the towns and move darshan earlier than the plans above. Logistics

Mathura to Vrindavan is about 12 km. E-rickshaws cover the short temple hops, and a private cab is easiest for elders and early mornings.
October to March for weather (more in best time to visit Vrindavan). April to June is hot but quieter, and mid-June to September brings the monsoon.
