What the ashram is
Shri Aniruddhacharya Ji Ashram, officially the Gauri Gopal Vraddhashram (you will also see it written Gouri Gopal or Gaura Gopal), is both a spiritual centre and a humanitarian one. It is guided by Shri Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj, a widely followed spiritual orator known for his daily Bhagwat Katha discourses. The ashram is best known for its seva: it runs a shelter caring for hundreds of abandoned and elderly women, a gaushala (cow shelter) and the large Annapurna Rasoi community kitchen, which serves free pure-vegetarian meals to thousands of visitors every day. For the wider picture of Vrindavan's charitable homes for elders, see our vrindavan old age home guide.
Location and how to reach
Address (area): Bhanumati / Deepak Road, Chaitanya Vihar Phase 1, Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh - 281121.
Directions: The ashram is on the Chhatikara side of Vrindavan, near the Raman Reti area. Entering Vrindavan via the Chhatikara route (Bhakti Vedanta Marg), you pass well-known landmarks such as the Vaishno Devi Mandir and Prem Mandir and continue toward the Raman Reti crossing, which leads into the Chaitanya Vihar area where the ashram is located. It is easy to combine with prem mandir and the ISKCON temple, which are on the same side of town. For getting around, see our how to commute in vrindavan guide.
Darshan, meeting and katha timings
The premises stay open to pilgrims through the day, but the schedule for seeing Maharaj and attending his discourse is specific and applies only when he is in residence:
Darshan / meeting with Maharaj: Devotees typically have the chance to see Shri Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj, in the main courtyard or first-floor area, around 12:00 noon. Given his large following, expect a crowd and a collective darshan rather than a guaranteed private meeting and only on days he is present.
Bhagwat Katha (discourse): His daily discourse (pravachan) is reported to begin in the afternoon, around 2:00 PM, in the main community hall, extending into the evening, again, when he is at the ashram.
Evening Aarti: The discourse is followed by a communal evening Aarti in the main temple hall.
The single most important thing to know: Maharaj travels extensively across India for kathas, so he is not always at the Vrindavan ashram. The seva, the free prasad and the darshan of the mothers continue regardless, but if you are coming specially to see him or sit in his katha, confirm that he is in residence on your date before you travel, to avoid a disappointing journey. Treat all timings as a guide and reconfirm locally.
Free prasad and the Annapurna Rasoi
The ashram's Annapurna Rasoi community kitchen serves fresh, pure sattvic vegetarian meals, completely free of cost, to all visitors. Distribution runs on an extended timeline through the day, reported generally from around 8:00 AM into the late night (hours shift with crowd volumes, so confirm on the day). It is a remarkable, welcoming seva; take prasad with respect, take only what you will eat and avoid waste.
Meeting the mothers and facilities
Visitors are generally welcome to go to the old-age-home section, on the upper floors, to meet the elderly matas, spend a little time with them and seek their blessings. Please remember this is their home, not a sightseeing stop: visit with warmth and respect, follow the ashram's guidance and be considerate about privacy and photography.
Facilities: the complex is reported to be wheelchair accessible. With growing crowds, a large new discourse hall and dedicated vehicle parking sit next to the main facility and basic comforts, coolers, fans and restrooms, are available for resting pilgrims. It is a well-set-up place to visit, including for elderly or less mobile pilgrims, though as always it is busiest around the katha and on weekends and festival days.
Contact, booking and supporting the seva
Contact: the ashram administration can reportedly be reached at +91 63999 91599; some third-party platforms (such as YatraDham.Org) also list it. Please treat any number or listing as a starting point and verify it through the ashram's own official channels before relying on it.
Supporting the ashram safely. If you wish to support the seva, the meals, the gaushala or the care of the mothers, please give wisely:
Give only through official, verified channels. Donate through the ashram's own official, verified channel, confirmed directly with them, never to an individual, an unverified phone number or a random link. A famous ashram's name can attract fraud.
Never share card or payment details over an unverified call. Do not make payments or share financial details on an unsolicited or unverified phone line; verify first.
In-kind help. Ask the ashram what it genuinely needs, funds, food or supplies for the kitchen, gaushala or the mothers, rather than assuming.
Make it an easy, respectful visit
The ashram sits on the Chhatikara side near Raman Reti, so it combines naturally with Prem Mandir and ISKCON in a half-day of Vrindavan darshan. We can include it in a guided Vrindavan visit, help you time it around the katha and the crowds and arrange comfortable transport, with a Braj-born guide, from around ₹1,499 per person for a shared day tour. See our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary to plan, check busy days on our is vrindavan crowded today guide and message us on WhatsApp at +91-7302265809 to plan a smooth, respectful visit. Darshan at the ashram is free.
