Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj and the JKP
Rangeeli Mahal is associated with Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, a widely revered spiritual teacher of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries and the organisation he founded, the Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat or JKP. Maharaj Ji, who passed away in 2013, was known for his teachings on devotion to Radha and Krishna and for a great programme of devotional, charitable and educational works across Braj and beyond. Timings and the best time to visit
Rangeeli Mahal generally keeps morning and evening darshan hours, opening in the morning at around 8:00 am until about 12:00 pm and again in the evening from around 4:30 pm to about 8:00 pm, closing through the middle of the day as is common for Braj temples. So plan your visit for the morning or the evening. Darshan is free. Timings can change on festivals and by season, so it is worth confirming locally.
The best season to visit is the cool, pleasant winter months of roughly October to March, avoiding the fierce summer heat, which also suits climbing and exploring Barsana's hilly town. Rangeeli Mahal is in Barsana, in the western part of Braj, easily reached from the twin cities and the wider region.
From Mathura, about 50 km, roughly 1.5 hours by taxi or bus to Barsana.
From Vrindavan, about 45 to 50 km, roughly 1.5 hours by road.
From Govardhan, about 20 km, easily combined with a Govardhan and western-Braj day.
From Delhi, about 130 km, roughly 3 hours via the Yamuna Expressway and Mathura.
