Shri Radha Rani Aarti: Lyrics, Meaning and How to Attend It in Braj

By Gurudutt, Experience My India·22 September 2026

Shri Radha Rani Aarti

Quick Answer

The Shri Radha Rani Aarti, known by its opening line 'Aarti Shri Vrishbhanu Lali ki', is a beloved devotional aarti to Radha Rani, the beloved of Krishna and the presiding deity of Barsana in Braj. Sung with lamps, bells and love, it praises Radha's tender beauty, her divine love and her power as the Goddess who removes the world's sorrows. It is dear above all at the Radha Rani temple of Barsana, and sung across Braj, especially on Radhashtami, Radha's appearance day. This page gives the meaning and significance of the aarti and how to attend it in Braj, and the lyrics are set out below.

Quick Enquiry

The Shri Radha Rani Aarti: an overview

The Shri Radha Rani Aarti, known by its opening words 'Aarti Shri Vrishbhanu Lali ki', is among the most beloved aartis of Braj, sung in adoration of Radha Rani, the beloved of Krishna. In the aarti, lamps are circled before the image of Radha as her devotees sing of her tender beauty, her boundless love and her divine grace, offering their hearts to Kishori Ji, as she is fondly called. It is dearest at the great Radha Rani temple of Barsana, her own hill town and sung across the land of Braj, above all on Radhashtami, her appearance day. To attend the aarti at Barsana as part of a Braj pilgrimage, a mathura vrindavan tour with Experience My India can take you there.

From the ground (Gurudutt): The Radha Rani aarti is the sweetest thing to witness at Barsana, high on Radha's hill; the lamps circling, the bells, the crowd singing her praises to Kishori Ji. When you sing 'Aarti Shri Vrishbhanu Lali ki', you are calling the beloved daughter of King Vrishbhanu, our Radha, the queen of Braj. Come to Barsana and feel it, above all at Radhashtami; there is no devotion sweeter. Radhe Radhe.

The lyrics of the aarti

[ CLIENT TO INSERT THE AARTI LYRICS HERE ] Paste the Shri Radha Rani Aarti lyrics you supplied into this section on your own site, in the Hindi (Devanagari) verses, with the Roman transliteration below or beside them for those who do not read Hindi. Set the aarti in a clear, well-spaced block, each verse on its own lines, with the refrain repeated between the verses as in the original. See Section K for the note on why the verbatim lyrics are added by you at publish rather than in this document.

The sections that follow explain who the aarti is addressed to, what it means and where and when it is sung, so that the page carries the depth and context that readers and search engines value alongside the lyrics.

Who is Radha Rani, the Vrishbhanu Lali

To understand the aarti, one must know its beloved subject:

  • The Vrishbhanu Lali. Radha Rani is the Vrishbhanu Lali, the beloved daughter of King Vrishbhanu of Barsana and Queen Kirti; so the aarti's name, 'Aarti Shri Vrishbhanu Lali ki', means the aarti of the beloved daughter of Vrishbhanu, that is, Radha.

  • The beloved of Krishna. Radha is the eternal beloved of Krishna, the very heart of his love; in Braj, her name comes even before his and the greeting Radhe Radhe honours her. She is worshipped as the Goddess, the source of divine love.

  • Kishori Ji of Barsana. She is fondly called Kishori Ji and her great temple crowns the hill of Barsana, her father's town; there she is the presiding deity and her aarti is sung with the deepest love.

Radha's temple is at radha rani temple barsana and her birthplace is honoured at radha rani temple rawal.

The meaning of the aarti

Without reproducing the verses here, the aarti's themes can be gently drawn out, for its beauty lies in its meaning:

  • Her beauty and grace. The aarti sings of Radha's gentle, enchanting form, a beauty that captivates even the sages and Krishna himself; it adores her as the very image of loveliness and of a mother's tender affection.

  • Her divine power. It praises Radha as the Goddess who dispels the threefold sorrows of the world and awakens pure wisdom and detachment; she is the eternal, primal power, the giver of grace, worshipped by saints and sages.

  • Her love with Krishna. Above all, the aarti celebrates Radha as one with Krishna, his eternal companion in the raas and the leelas of Vrindavan, the very heart of his love; to sing her aarti is to adore the divine love of Radha and Krishna.

The leelas of Radha and Krishna are honoured at the seva kunj vrindavan and across Braj.

Where and when the aarti is sung

The Radha Rani Aarti is sung across Braj, but has its dearest homes and times:

  • At Barsana, above all. The aarti is dearest at the great Radha Rani temple of Barsana, her hill town, where it is sung morning and evening with lamps and bells; to hear it there is to hear it at its source.

  • Across Braj. It is also sung in the many Radha and Radha-Krishna temples of Vrindavan and Braj, in homes and by devotees everywhere, for Radha is beloved throughout the land; wherever her name is sung, this aarti is dear.

  • Confirm the aarti times. As the aarti and darshan times at the temples change with the season and on festivals, it is best to confirm the current times before you go; the evening aarti is especially beautiful.

For the temple hours across Braj, see our mathura vrindavan temple timings guide.

How to attend the Radha Rani Aarti in Braj

To attend the aarti at its source, at Barsana, is the wish of every devotee of Radha:

  • Go to Barsana. Barsana, Radha's hill town, lies in the west of Braj, about 45 to 50 km from Vrindavan and Mathura; the great Radha Rani temple, the Shriji temple, crowns its hill, reached by a climb or a palki. The evening aarti there is unforgettable.

  • From Vrindavan or Mathura. Most pilgrims visit Barsana on a day trip from Vrindavan or Mathura, often with nearby Nandgaon, Krishna's town and Govardhan; a car and a Braj guide make it easy.

  • Dress and darshan. Dress modestly for the temple, follow the local custom and be ready for the climb and the crowds, especially at festivals; the aarti and the darshan of Kishori Ji reward every step.

See our radha rani temple barsana page for the temple and our how to commute in vrindavan guide for reaching Barsana.

Radhashtami and the aarti

The aarti is dearest of all on Radhashtami, the appearance day of Radha Rani, which falls in the month of Bhadrapada, about a fortnight after Krishna's Janmashtami. On this great day, Barsana and all of Braj overflow with devotees; the Radha Rani temple is decked in splendour, the aarti is sung with the greatest love and joy and the very air rings with 'Radhe Radhe'. To be at Barsana for the Radhashtami aarti is among the most beautiful experiences a devotee of Radha can know. The marble prem mandir vrindavan, dedicated to Radha-Krishna, is also beautiful for her worship.

We take pilgrims to Barsana to attend the Radha Rani aarti and darshan, above all at Radhashtami, along with the temples of Vrindavan and Mathura, with a comfortable vehicle, the darshan and the climb or palki arranged and a Braj-born guide. A shared day tour starts from around ₹1,499 per person, with darshan free. Our mathura vrindavan tour covers the twin cities, our vrindavan tour package Vrindavan in a day and the braj 84 kos yatra the whole of Braj including Barsana; in Vrindavan the banke bihari temple and the braj yamuna ghats and leela sites are dear and our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary helps you plan. "Our Same Day Govardhan Barsana Tour Package with Experience My India was a deeply peaceful and memorable experience. We wanted to visit Govardhan and Barsana in one day, and the entire journey was arranged very smoothly. The visit to Radha Rani Temple in Barsana was the highlight for our family. Standing there during the devotional atmosphere and hearing the aarti made the trip especially meaningful. Gurudutt ji was very helpful throughout and guided us patiently about the temple visit and local arrangements. The service felt personal rather than routine. We came back tired but genuinely happy and would gladly travel with Experience My India again."

"We booked the 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Govardhan Barsana Tour Package with Experience My India for a family pilgrimage, and it was beautifully planned. Having two days allowed us to experience the important temples at a relaxed pace instead of trying to cover everything in a hurry. Barsana was especially special for us because of our visit to Radha Rani Temple and the devotional atmosphere around Kishori Ji. Govardhan and Vrindavan added equally meaningful moments to the journey. Gurudutt ji was always polite and available whenever we needed guidance. The arrangements were comfortable, communication was clear, and the entire trip felt thoughtfully managed. It was a lovely Braj experience for our family."

"Our 3 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package with Experience My India gave our family enough time to experience Braj without feeling rushed. We enjoyed the temples of Mathura and Vrindavan and appreciated having time to absorb the spiritual atmosphere at each place. The devotional experience around Radha Rani and Barsana was particularly memorable, and the guidance made the visit much easier for us. Gurudutt ji was extremely supportive and explained the practical details patiently whenever we had questions. The vehicle arrangements and overall coordination were handled smoothly. What we liked most was the personal attention throughout the journey. We returned home with beautiful memories and would recommend Experience My India to families planning a Braj pilgrimage."
