Gurgaon to Vrindavan Distance and Back: Routes, Time and How to Travel

By Gurudutt, Experience My India·26 August 2026

Gurgaon to Vrindavan Distance and Back

Quick Answer

The distance from Gurgaon to Vrindavan is about 133 to 157 km by road, and the drive takes only about 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes, one of the shortest and easiest journeys to Braj and a fine day out from the NCR. The best way is the 133 km route via NH 44, about 2 hours 17 minutes, which is both the fastest and the shortest; routes using the Western Peripheral Expressway or NH 148NA are longer, at about 150 to 157 km. Coming back, Vrindavan to Gurgaon is about 136 to 152 km, the quickest being the 136 km route via NH 44, about 2 hours 27 minutes. A car or taxi is the easiest way; by rail you travel to Mathura Junction, from where Vrindavan is about 15 km. Gurgaon is also known by its official name, Gurugram.

Gurgaon and Vrindavan: an overview

Gurgaon, the Millennium City of the National Capital Region and Vrindavan, the town of Krishna on the Yamuna, are close enough that the journey is among the shortest to Braj, only about 133 to 157 km and roughly 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes, most of it a straight run down NH 44. For the busy folk of Gurgaon and the NCR, that makes Vrindavan a wonderfully easy escape, a day of darshan and peace within an easy drive. This guide gives every route in both directions with its distance and time, all the ways to travel and what awaits you in Vrindavan; and if you would like it all arranged, a mathura vrindavan tour package with Experience My India can meet you and guide your Braj day.

From the ground (Gurudutt): Gurgaon is so close that I often greet guests who left after breakfast and reach me in Vrindavan by late morning. My advice is the simplest of all my distance guides: just take NH 44 straight down, for here the direct highway is both the fastest and the shortest way and the expressway loops only add distance. Start early to clear the NCR traffic, plan your darshan for the morning and evening around the midday closing and you have a perfect day. Radhe Radhe. Gurgaon to Vrindavan distance: the routes

There are three main road routes from Gurgaon to Vrindavan; here they are side by side:

Route

Distance

Driving time

Via

Fastest and shortest

133 km

About 2 hr 17 min

NH 44

Alternative

150 km

About 2 hr 35 min

Western Peripheral Expressway and NH 44

Alternative

157 km

About 2 hr 40 min

NH 148NA and NH 44

In short: the best way from Gurgaon to Vrindavan is the 133 km route via NH 44, about 2 hours 17 minutes, which is both the fastest and the shortest; the routes via the Western Peripheral Expressway (150 km) or NH 148NA (157 km) are longer and slower, useful only if NH 44 is congested on the day.

Vrindavan to Gurgaon distance: the routes

Going back, the picture is much the same; the main options are these:

Route

Distance

Driving time

Via

Fastest and shortest

136 km

About 2 hr 27 min

NH 44

Alternative

152 km

About 2 hr 55 min

NH 44 and Western Peripheral Expressway

In short: from Vrindavan the best way back to Gurgaon is again the 136 km route via NH 44, about 2 hours 27 minutes; the route adding the Western Peripheral Expressway is longer at 152 km and about 2 hours 55 minutes. NH 44 is the simple, direct spine of this journey either way.

Which route should you choose?

  • For the best drive, either way: NH 44. Unlike longer journeys to Braj, here the direct NH 44 is both the fastest and the shortest route, about 2 hours 17 minutes to Vrindavan and about 2 hours 27 minutes back to Gurgaon; there is no need for an expressway loop.

  • Only if NH 44 is congested: the Western Peripheral Expressway. The Western Peripheral or KMP, Expressway route is longer and slower here, so take it only when NH 44 through the Delhi and Faridabad side is heavy, to keep moving rather than to save distance.

  • It is a short, simple drive. At around two and a half hours on a straight highway, this is one of the easiest trips to Braj; a driver who knows the NCR roads will read the traffic and pick well.

Check live traffic on the day, mainly through the Faridabad and Ballabgarh stretch of NH 44, which is the busiest part of an otherwise quick run.

How to travel between Gurgaon and Vrindavan

There are several ways to make the journey; the options at a glance:

  • By car or taxi (best). The most comfortable and flexible way, about 2 hours 20 minutes by NH 44, door to door; ideal for a family day out, for elders and for those with luggage and easily arranged as part of a Braj tour.

  • By train. Gurgaon has limited direct services, so many travellers board at a Delhi station such as Hazrat Nizamuddin for Mathura Junction; from Mathura, Vrindavan is about 15 km by road. Check the current timetable and book ahead in the festival seasons.

  • By bus. Buses and shared cabs run from the NCR towards Mathura, from where you take a local ride to Vrindavan; it is the budget option, though slower and with a change.

  • By air. The journey is far too short to fly, even though Delhi airport is right beside Gurgaon; the road or a train is always the way for this trip.

If you are coming by rail, our tundla to vrindavan distance guide covers the nearby railheads and the last leg into Vrindavan and our how to commute in vrindavan guide covers getting around once you arrive.

A quick day trip or weekend from the NCR

Because it is only about two and a half hours each way, Gurgaon to Vrindavan makes an easy day trip; a simple plan for the day:

  • Set out early down NH 44 to reach Vrindavan by late morning

  • Take the morning darshan at Banke Bihari and see the old-town temples

  • Rest and eat through the midday, when the main temples close for a few hours

  • See Prem Mandir in the late afternoon for its light and fountain show

  • Take the evening aarti at Keshi Ghat, then drive home or stay the night to enjoy it unhurried

Our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary helps you shape a day or a weekend and reminds you to plan around the temples' morning and evening hours.

Best time, tips and how to plan

  • Take NH 44 straight down; it is both the fastest and the shortest way, so skip the expressway loops.

  • Plan your darshan around the midday temple closing, morning and evening.

  • Carry cash or a FASTag for any tolls on the route.

  • October to March is the pleasantest season; watch for winter morning fog on the highway.

"We booked the Same Day Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package from Gurgaon for a family pilgrimage, and it worked out really well. The direct NH 44 route is about 133 km and takes around 2 hours 17 minutes, so we could leave early and reach Vrindavan in time for morning darshan. We visited Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON, Prem Mandir and Keshi Ghat, and also included Mathura in the day. The timing worked nicely because we used the midday temple closing for lunch and rest, then continued with Prem Mandir and the evening aarti at Keshi Ghat."

"Our 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package was ideal for our parents because we did not want to rush through the temples. We travelled from Gurgaon by car via NH 44, which is the shortest and fastest route according to the travel guide. Having two days allowed us to comfortably visit Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir, ISKCON and Keshi Ghat, while also spending proper time in Mathura. We especially liked having an evening in Vrindavan instead of having to drive back immediately after sightseeing. The itinerary gave us enough breathing room for darshan, meals and rest."

"We chose the 3 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package from Gurgaon because we wanted to make the most of the trip rather than limit ourselves to a single day. The journey to Vrindavan was straightforward, with NH 44 taking around 2 hours 17 minutes from Gurgaon under normal conditions. We spent proper time at Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir, ISKCON and Keshi Ghat, then visited Mathura as well. We also appreciated the option of adding Agra and the Taj Mahal to a three-day plan. Starting early was important, and the advice to plan temple visits around the midday closing made the whole trip much smoother."
