By Gurudutt, Experience My India·24 August 2026

Ghaziabad to Vrindavan Distance and Back

Quick Answer

The distance from Ghaziabad to Vrindavan is about 154 to 168 km by road, and the drive takes only about 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours, which makes it one of the easiest trips to Braj and a fine day out from Delhi NCR. The shortest way is the 154 km route via the Yamuna Expressway, about 2 hours 49 minutes; the quickest by time is the 168 km route via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and NH 44, about 2 hours 41 minutes. Coming back, Vrindavan to Ghaziabad is about 155 to 168 km, the quickest being the 155 km route via the Yamuna Expressway, about 2 hours 45 minutes. A car or taxi is the easiest way; by rail you travel to Mathura Junction, from where Vrindavan is about 15 km.

Ghaziabad and Vrindavan: an overview

Ghaziabad, the busy gateway city of the National Capital Region and Vrindavan, the town of Krishna on the Yamuna, are close enough that the journey is one of the easiest to Braj, only about 154 to 168 km and roughly 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours, mostly on the smooth Yamuna Expressway. Because Ghaziabad sits on the NCR side, you slip onto the expressway near Greater Noida and are in Braj before you know it, which makes Vrindavan a lovely day trip or weekend from the region. This guide gives every route in both directions with its distance and time, all the ways to travel and what awaits you in Vrindavan; and if you would like it all arranged, a mathura vrindavan tour package with Experience My India can meet you and guide your Braj day.

From the ground (Gurudutt): Ghaziabad is close enough that I welcome many guests who set out after an early breakfast and are with me in Vrindavan by mid-morning. My advice is simple: take the Yamuna Expressway, start early to beat the NCR traffic onto it and plan your darshan around the midday temple closing, morning and evening. You can see the heart of Vrindavan and be home the same night, though an overnight lets you enjoy it unhurried. Radhe Radhe. Ghaziabad to Vrindavan distance: the routes

About 2 hr 41 min

Eastern Peripheral Expressway and NH 44

Shortest

154 km

About 2 hr 49 min

In short: the shortest way from Ghaziabad to Vrindavan is the 154 km route via the Yamuna Expressway, about 2 hours 49 minutes and it is the simplest; the Eastern Peripheral Expressway with NH 44 is a touch quicker by time at about 2 hours 41 minutes but longer at 168 km. Both are easy drives of under three hours.

Vrindavan to Ghaziabad distance: the routes

Going back, the routes and times are much the same; the main options are these:

Route

Distance

Driving time

Via

Fastest

155 km

About 2 hr 45 min

Yamuna Expressway

Alternative

162 km

About 2 hr 45 min

Yamuna Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway

Longer

168 km

About 2 hr 54 min

NH 44 and Eastern Peripheral Expressway

In short: from Vrindavan the quickest way back to Ghaziabad is the 155 km route via the Yamuna Expressway, about 2 hours 45 minutes; a route adding the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is 162 km in the same time, while the NH 44 and Eastern Peripheral Expressway route is a little longer at 168 km and about 2 hours 54 minutes. The Yamuna Expressway is the simple, fast spine either way.

Which route should you choose?

  • For the simplest drive: the Yamuna Expressway. In both directions the Yamuna Expressway is the easiest and shortest way, about 2 hours 45 to 49 minutes, on smooth, fast expressway almost all the way into Braj; join it near Greater Noida from the NCR side.

  • For a touch less time: the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and NH 44. Coming to Vrindavan, this route is a few minutes quicker at about 2 hours 41 minutes, though longer at 168 km; it can help on a day when the Noida approach to the Yamuna Expressway is busy.

  • It is a short, easy drive either way. The whole journey is under three hours, so the choice is minor; a driver who knows the NCR roads will read the traffic and pick well.

Check live traffic on the day, mainly on the NCR approach to the Yamuna Expressway, which is the busiest part of an otherwise smooth run.

How to travel between Ghaziabad and Vrindavan

There are several ways to make the journey; the options at a glance:

  • By car or taxi (best). The most comfortable and flexible way, about 2 hours 45 minutes by the Yamuna Expressway, door to door; ideal for a family day out, for elders and for pilgrims with luggage and easily arranged as part of a Braj tour.

  • By train. Ghaziabad is a major railway junction and trains connect it to Mathura Junction, some direct and some via Delhi; from Mathura, Vrindavan is about 15 km by road. Check the current timetable and book ahead in the festival seasons.

  • By bus. Buses run from the NCR towards Mathura, from where you take a local ride to Vrindavan; it is the budget option, though slower and with a change. Shared cabs are also common.

  • By air. The journey is far too short to fly; the road or a train is always the way. The new Noida (Jewar) airport, when fully open, will sit close to the Yamuna Expressway route.

If you are coming by rail, our tundla to vrindavan distance guide covers the nearby railheads and the last leg into Vrindavan and our how to commute in vrindavan guide covers getting around once you arrive.

An easy day trip from Delhi NCR

Because it is under three hours each way, Ghaziabad to Vrindavan makes a genuine day trip; a simple plan for the day:

  • Set out early down the Yamuna Expressway to reach Vrindavan by mid-morning

  • Take the morning darshan at Banke Bihari and see the old-town temples

  • Rest and eat through the midday, when the main temples close for a few hours

  • See Prem Mandir in the late afternoon for its light and fountain show

  • Take the evening aarti at Keshi Ghat, then drive home or stay the night to enjoy it unhurried

Our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary helps you shape a day or a weekend and reminds you to plan around the temples' morning and evening hours.

"We booked the Same Day Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package because we were travelling from Ghaziabad and had only one day. Starting early made the trip very comfortable. We reached Vrindavan by mid-morning and visited Banke Bihari Temple, then used the midday temple closing for lunch and rest. In the evening, we visited Prem Mandir and Keshi Ghat before heading back. The Yamuna Expressway made the drive easy, and the whole trip worked perfectly as a day outing from NCR."

"Our 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package was a better choice than trying to rush everything into one day. We had enough time to enjoy Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir, ISKCON and Keshi Ghat in Vrindavan and also include Mathura, which is only about 15 km away. We particularly liked being able to plan temple visits around the midday closing instead of arriving when the temples were shut. The extra day made the pilgrimage feel much more relaxed."

"We chose the 3 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package because we did not want to spend the entire trip watching the clock. The first part of the trip gave us plenty of time for Vrindavan's main temples, including Banke Bihari, ISKCON and Prem Mandir, while Mathura was easy to add because it is so close to Vrindavan. We also enjoyed the evening atmosphere at Keshi Ghat. What we appreciated most was having enough time for morning and evening darshan rather than trying to fit every temple into a single afternoon."
