Ballabgarh to Mathura and Vrindavan Distance: Routes and Travel

By Gurudutt, Experience My India·11 September 2026

Ballabgarh to Mathura and Vrindavan Distance

Quick Answer

The distance from Ballabgarh to Mathura is about 111 km, and to Vrindavan about 104 km, each roughly two hours by road, most directly down NH 44. As Ballabgarh lies south of Delhi in the National Capital Region, already on the highway to Braj, it has a clear, direct run without crossing the city, and makes an easy day trip to Krishna's land. The returns, Mathura to Ballabgarh and Vrindavan to Ballabgarh, are much the same, about 104 to 111 km. This guide gives the routes both ways to both cities. All times are approximate and depend on traffic.

Ballabgarh to Braj distance: an overview

From Ballabgarh, the town in the Faridabad district of the National Capital Region, the holy land of Braj lies close at hand: Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna, about 111 km away and Vrindavan, the town of his childhood, about 104 km, each roughly two hours by road. The happy thing for a Ballabgarh traveller is that the town sits south of Delhi, already on NH 44, the direct highway to Braj, so you have a clear run without crossing the city and both temple towns make an easy day trip. This guide gives the routes both ways to both cities; and if you would like the drive, the darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged, a mathura vrindavan tour package with Experience My India can plan your day.

From the ground (Gurudutt): For my guests from Ballabgarh and the Faridabad side, I always say what a happy start you have: you are already south of Delhi on the highway, so no city traffic to fight, just a clean two-hour run down NH 44 to Braj. Come early, do Vrindavan's temples in the morning, cross to Mathura for the Janmabhoomi and the Yamuna aarti and you are home by night. It is one of the easiest day trips to Krishna's land. Best ways to travel and which route to choose

For this short, direct journey, the choices are simple:

  •  By car or taxi (best). About two hours down NH 44, with the freedom to see Vrindavan and Mathura together and to reach the edge of the old towns; the easiest way and Ballabgarh's position south of Delhi means a clear run. Fares vary, so ask us for a live quote.

  •  NH 44 is the route to take. The direct NH 44 is the fastest and shortest to both cities; the Yamuna Expressway is a smooth alternative and the Eastern or Western Peripheral Expressways are longer options that skirt the wider region.

  •  By train. Ballabgarh has a railway station on the Delhi-Mathura line and trains connect it to Mathura Junction, the station for both cities; a quick option, from where an auto or e-rickshaw takes you on. Check current times on IRCTC.

For the car option and fares, see our delhi to mathura vrindavan distance taxi cost guide, which covers the Delhi and NCR side.

An easy day trip and what to see in Braj

Being only about two hours away, Ballabgarh makes Mathura and Vrindavan an easy day trip:

  •  A comfortable day. Start early and a single day covers the temples of Vrindavan and the birthplace of Krishna at Mathura, only about 14 km apart, returning to Ballabgarh by evening; an overnight lets you add the wider Braj without rush.

  •  In Vrindavan. The beloved Banke Bihari, the marble Prem Mandir with its evening light show, the serene ISKCON temple and the grove of Nidhivan are the essentials.

  •  In Mathura. The Krishna Janmabhoomi at the birthplace, the grand Dwarkadhish temple and the Yamuna ghats, above all Vishram Ghat with its evening aarti.

See the banke bihari temple, prem mandir vrindavan and iskcon temple vrindavan in Vrindavan and the krishna janmabhoomi, dwarkadhish temple and braj yamuna ghats and leela sites in Mathura; our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary helps plan the day.

Best time to visit and tips

  •  October to March is the most pleasant season for the drive and for temple darshan, with cool, comfortable weather.

  •  Start early for a day trip, so you reach the temples before the midday closing and are home by evening.

  •  Take the direct NH 44 for the fastest run to both cities; the Yamuna Expressway is a smooth alternative.

  •  See Vrindavan and Mathura together, only about 14 km apart, for a full day of Braj darshan.

  •  In the old towns, cars are kept out of the lanes, so park at the edge and take an e-rickshaw for the temples.

We welcome day-trip pilgrims from Ballabgarh and across the NCR to Mathura and Vrindavan, with a comfortable vehicle, the temple darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged and a Braj-born guide. A shared day tour starts from around ₹1,499 per person, with darshan free. Our mathura vrindavan tour covers both cities, our vrindavan tour package Vrindavan in a day and the braj 84 kos yatra the whole of Braj. For getting around, see our how to commute in vrindavan guide and for the darshan hours our mathura vrindavan temple timings guide; message me on WhatsApp at +91-7302265809 to plan your visit.
