Bulandshahr to Mathura Distance: Routes and How to Travel

By Gurudutt, Experience My India·22 September 2026

Bulandshahr to Mathura Distance

Quick Answer

The distance from Bulandshahr to Mathura is about 138 km by the fastest route, and the drive takes roughly two and a half hours, most directly by the Yamuna Expressway. As Bulandshahr sits by the Yamuna Expressway corridor, the fast expressway that runs down to Braj, it has a quick, direct run to Mathura; the route by the ordinary NH 34, though a touch shorter at about 136 km, is slower at about 2 hr 57 min. Being a short haul, it makes an easy day trip from the western Uttar Pradesh city of Bulandshahr to the birthplace of Krishna. As Bulandshahr has a railway station, the train is also an option. The return, Mathura to Bulandshahr, is much the same, about 136 km. Vrindavan lies about 14 km beyond Mathura. All times are approximate.

Bulandshahr to Mathura distance: an overview

From Bulandshahr, the western Uttar Pradesh city near the National Capital Region, the birthplace of Krishna at Mathura lies only about 134 to 138 km to the south, roughly two and a half hours by road. The quickest way is the Yamuna Expressway, the fast expressway that runs down towards Braj, which passes near Bulandshahr, so the run to Mathura is quick and direct; the ordinary NH 34, though a touch shorter, is slower. Being a short haul, it makes an easy day trip from Bulandshahr to Krishna's land. As Bulandshahr has a railway station, the train is also an option. This guide gives the routes both ways, with Vrindavan, the town of Krishna's childhood, about 14 km beyond Mathura; and if you would like the drive, the darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged, a mathura vrindavan tour with Experience My India can plan your day.

From the ground (Gurudutt): For my guests from Bulandshahr, Braj is close and easy, only about two and a half hours by the Yamuna Expressway, which runs right down past Mathura. Take the expressway, not the plain NH 34, which is slower; come in the morning, do the Mathura and Vrindavan temples and you are home by evening. It is one of the easiest of the western UP day trips to Krishna's land. Let me shape the day for you. Radhe Radhe.

The Yamuna Expressway route is the fastest at about 2 hr 32 min; a variation joining NH 334DD to reach the expressway is much the same; and the ordinary NH 34, though a touch shorter at about 136 km, is slower at about 2 hr 57 min. So the expressway is the quicker, easier choice. Times are approximate and depend on traffic; please check live maps before you set off.

Mathura to Bulandshahr: the return

The return, Mathura to Bulandshahr, is much the same. The options:

The Yamuna Expressway route is again the fastest for the return, at about 2 hr 36 min; the NH 34, though similar in distance, is slower at about 3 hr 12 min. As on the way out, the expressway is the quicker choice. Treat these as guide figures and check live traffic before you leave.

The route: the Yamuna Expressway

The key to the Bulandshahr to Braj journey is the Yamuna Expressway:

  • The fast road to Braj. The Yamuna Expressway is the fast, access-controlled expressway that runs from the Greater Noida side down to Agra, passing near Mathura; as Bulandshahr lies near its corridor, it is the natural, quick way to Braj, joined from Bulandshahr by the local roads or NH 334DD.

  • Faster than the old road. Though the ordinary NH 34 is a touch shorter, it runs through the towns and is slower; the Yamuna Expressway, smooth and fast, is quicker at about two and a half hours, so it is the better choice for Bulandshahr.

  • A good, quick drive. The expressway is a toll road, so keep your FASTag ready; the drive of about two and a half hours is comfortable and easily done in a day, one of the shorter western UP journeys to Braj.

Where the road reaches the Braj end, our agra to vrindavan distance guide covers the approach to Mathura and Vrindavan.

Best ways to travel: road and rail

For this short, quick haul, Bulandshahr gives you good choices:

  • By car (best). About two and a half hours by the Yamuna Expressway, doable easily in a day, with the freedom to see Vrindavan and Mathura together, only about 14 km apart; a comfortable day trip. Fares vary, so ask us for a live quote.

  • By train. Bulandshahr has a railway station and trains connect it towards Mathura Junction, the station for both Mathura and Vrindavan; a restful option, though you may need to check connections, from where an auto or e-rickshaw takes you on. Check current trains on IRCTC.

  • By bus. Buses run from Bulandshahr towards Aligarh and Mathura; the budget option, though slower and less direct than a car.

For the car option and fares, see our delhi to mathura vrindavan distance taxi cost guide and for arriving by train, our tundla to vrindavan distance guide covers the region's railheads.

What to see in Mathura and Vrindavan, best time and tips

When you reach Braj, the great sights await:

  • In Mathura. See the Krishna Janmabhoomi at the birthplace, the grand Dwarkadhish temple and the Yamuna ghats, above all Vishram Ghat with its evening aarti, at the heart of the old city.

  • And nearby Vrindavan. Only about 14 km on, Vrindavan holds the beloved Banke Bihari, the marble Prem Mandir with its evening light show and the serene ISKCON temple; the two cities are visited together.

  • Best time and tips. October to March is the most pleasant season; take the Yamuna Expressway and start early so you reach the temples fresh and in the old towns take an e-rickshaw for the temple lanes, as cars are kept out.

See the krishna janmabhoomi, dwarkadhish temple and braj yamuna ghats and leela sites in Mathura and the banke bihari temple, prem mandir vrindavan and iskcon temple vrindavan in Vrindavan.

We welcome pilgrims from Bulandshahr and across western Uttar Pradesh to Mathura and Vrindavan, with a comfortable vehicle, the temple darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged and a Braj-born guide. A shared day tour starts from around ₹1,499 per person, with darshan free. Our mathura vrindavan tour covers the twin cities, our vrindavan tour package Vrindavan in a day, the braj 84 kos yatra the whole of Braj and our agra mathura vrindavan tour package the Taj with Braj; our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary, how to commute in vrindavan and mathura vrindavan temple timings guides help you plan. "We booked the Same Day Govardhan Barsana Tour Package with Experience My India for a family pilgrimage, and the experience was very smooth from start to finish. Visiting Govardhan and Barsana in one day was exactly what we needed. The darshan at Radha Rani Temple was especially memorable, and the peaceful devotional atmosphere made the journey feel truly special. Gurudutt ji was very helpful and guided us patiently throughout the trip. He also made the local travel and temple visits easy to manage. The arrangements were well coordinated, and we never felt rushed or confused. We returned home with beautiful memories and would happily travel with Experience My India again."

"Our 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Govardhan Barsana Tour Package with Experience My India was a wonderful spiritual experience for our family. We liked the way the journey included Mathura and Vrindavan along with Govardhan and Barsana, giving us a much fuller experience of Braj. Krishna Janmabhoomi, Banke Bihari Temple and Radha Rani Temple were some of the most meaningful visits for us. Gurudutt ji remained very supportive throughout and patiently answered all our questions. The arrangements were comfortable, communication was clear, and everything felt properly coordinated. Having two days made the pilgrimage much easier for our family, and we came back feeling peaceful and grateful for the experience."

"We had a lovely experience on the 3 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package with Experience My India. The three-day plan gave us enough time to visit the major temples of Mathura and Vrindavan without making every day feel hurried. Krishna Janmabhoomi and Dwarkadhish Temple in Mathura were deeply meaningful, while Banke Bihari Temple and Prem Mandir in Vrindavan were unforgettable. We also enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere around the Yamuna ghats. Gurudutt ji was kind, responsive and genuinely helpful throughout the journey. His practical guidance made moving around the busy temple areas much easier. The entire trip was thoughtfully managed, and our family returned with many beautiful memories of Braj."
