By Gurudutt, Experience My India·11 September 2026

Aligarh to Vrindavan Distance

Quick Answer

The distance from Aligarh to Vrindavan is about 69 to 85 km, depending on the route, and the drive takes roughly two to two and a half hours. The shortest way, about 69 km, is the direct Mathura-Aligarh Road; the quickest in the usual traffic is NH 509 joined to NH 530B. Being a nearby western Uttar Pradesh city, Aligarh makes an easy day trip to Vrindavan, the town of Krishna's childhood, and nearby Mathura, his birthplace. The return, Vrindavan to Aligarh, is much the same, about 78 to 82 km. All times are approximate and depend on traffic.

Aligarh to Vrindavan distance: an overview

From Aligarh, a busy city of western Uttar Pradesh, the town of Krishna at Vrindavan lies only about 69 to 85 km away, roughly two to two and a half hours by road. Being so close, Aligarh makes an easy day trip to Braj, letting a traveller reach the temples of Vrindavan and, close by, the birthplace of Krishna at Mathura, in a comfortable morning's drive. The shortest way is the direct Mathura-Aligarh Road and the quickest the national highways; either is a simple journey. If you would rather have the drive, the darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged, a mathura vrindavan tour package with Experience My India can plan your day.

From the ground (Gurudutt): Aligarh is close enough that I get many day-trip guests from there and it is an easy run, about two hours by the direct road. Come early, do Bihari Ji and the Vrindavan temples in the morning, cross to Mathura for the Janmabhoomi and the Yamuna aarti and you are home by night. It is one of the simplest pilgrimages to Braj from the nearby cities; let me shape the day for you. Radhe Radhe. See our Mathura Vrindavan tour Package  or message WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

Aligarh to Vrindavan: the routes

There are three main ways to drive from Aligarh to Vrindavan. The options, with approximate distance and time:

Route

Distance

Time (approx)

Via NH 509 and NH 530B (fastest)

About 85.4 km

About 2 hr 8 min

Via the Mathura-Aligarh Road (shortest)

About 69.3 km

About 2 hr 10 min

Via the Khair-Tentigaon Road

About 80.5 km

About 2 hr 19 min

The NH 509 and NH 530B route is the quickest at about 2 hr 8 min, though a little longer in distance; the direct Mathura-Aligarh Road is the shortest at about 69 km and much the same in time. The Khair-Tentigaon Road is a smaller-road option. Times are approximate and depend on traffic; please check live maps before you set off.

Vrindavan to Aligarh: the return

The return, Vrindavan to Aligarh, is much the same. The options:

Route

Distance

Time (approx)

Via NH 530B and NH 509 (fastest)

About 78.1 km

About 2 hr 5 min

Via NH 530B, NH 509 and the Aligarh Bypass

About 82.5 km

About 2 hr 6 min

Via the Khair-Tentigaon Road

About 80.1 km

About 2 hr 18 min

The NH 530B and NH 509 route is again the fastest for the return, at about 78 km and just over two hours, with the Aligarh Bypass a useful option to skirt the city. As with the outward drive, treat these as guide figures and check live traffic before you leave.

Which route to choose

  •  For speed, NH 509 and NH 530B. The quickest way, about two hours in the usual traffic, on good national highways; the route most travellers take.

  •  For the shortest way, the Mathura-Aligarh Road. About 69 km, the most direct route, joining Aligarh and Mathura and on to Vrindavan; a little slower on ordinary road but shorter in distance.

  •  To skirt the city, the Aligarh Bypass. On the return, the Aligarh Bypass helps you avoid the city traffic; a car with a driver can choose the clearer road on the day.

Best ways to travel

For this short hop, the choices are simple:

  •  By car or taxi (best). About two hours door to door, with the freedom to see Vrindavan and Mathura together and to reach the edge of the old town; an easy day trip. Fares vary, so ask us for a live quote.

  •  By train. Aligarh Junction is a major railway station and trains connect it to Mathura Junction, the station for Vrindavan, about 14 km away; a quick and easy option, from where an auto or e-rickshaw takes you on. Check current times on IRCTC.

  •  By bus. Buses run from Aligarh towards Mathura, from where you continue to Vrindavan by local transport; the budget option, though slower and less direct than a car.

For the car option and fares, see our delhi to mathura vrindavan distance taxi cost guide and for arriving by train, our tundla to vrindavan distance guide covers the region's railheads.

An easy day trip and what to see in Braj

Being only about two hours away, Aligarh makes Vrindavan and Braj an easy day trip:

  •  A comfortable day. Start early and a single day covers the temples of Vrindavan and, close by, the birthplace of Krishna at Mathura, returning to Aligarh by evening; an overnight lets you add the wider Braj without rush.

  •  In Vrindavan. The beloved Banke Bihari, the marble Prem Mandir with its evening light show, the serene ISKCON temple and the mysterious grove of Nidhivan are the essentials.

  •  In Mathura and beyond. The Krishna Janmabhoomi and the Yamuna ghats at Mathura, about 14 km from Vrindavan, and, with more time, Gokul, Govardhan and Barsana in the wider Braj.

See the banke bihari temple, prem mandir vrindavan and iskcon temple vrindavan in Vrindavan and the krishna janmabhoomi and braj yamuna ghats and leela sites in Mathura; our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary helps plan the day.

Best time to visit and tips

  •  October to March is the most pleasant season for the drive and for temple darshan, with cool, comfortable weather.

  •  Start early for a day trip, so you reach the temples before the midday closing and are home by evening.

  •  Take the Mathura-Aligarh Road for the shortest wayor the national highways for the quickest; use the Aligarh Bypass to skirt the city.

  •  In Vrindavan, cars are kept out of the old-town lanes, so park at the edge and take an e-rickshaw for the temples.

  •  Agree the taxi or e-rickshaw fare beforehand, as first-time visitors are often quoted high and carry water in the warmer months.

We welcome day-trip pilgrims from Aligarh to Vrindavan and Mathura, with a comfortable vehicle, the temple darshan and the e-rickshaw arranged and a Braj-born guide. A shared day tour starts from around ₹1,499 per person, with darshan free. Our vrindavan tour package covers Vrindavan in a day, our mathura vrindavan tour the twin cities and the braj 84 kos yatra the whole of Braj. For getting around, see our how to commute in vrindavan guide and for the darshan hours our mathura vrindavan temple timings guide; message me on WhatsApp at +91-7302265809 to plan your visit.
