How to Volunteer at ISKCON Vrindavan

By Gurudutt, Experience My India·23 October 2026

How to Volunteer at ISKCON Vrindavan

Quick Answer

To volunteer at ISKCON Vrindavan (the Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Temple), you can serve through its various departments, offer short-term seva or join a structured spiritual-training program. Popular options include daily temple seva (deity-worship prep like flower stringing and garland making, the kitchen and prasadam and keeping the premises clean), joining the evening Harinam Sankirtan street chanting, hands-on service at the Goshala (cow care), the Simple Living High Thinking eco-farm and the devotee-care and free medical camps. For a longer commitment, unmarried men aged 18 to 35 can apply to the New Bhakta Brahmachari training and others can discuss residency with the temple authorities. The most effective way to start is an in-person inquiry at the Community Service Centre in the temple courtyard or by contacting the service desk. Confirm current departments, timings and contact details directly with the temple, as they change.

Quick Enquiry

Ways to volunteer: the seva departments

The main volunteer opportunities at ISKCON Vrindavan. Departments and timings change, so confirm what is currently open with the temple.

Daily temple seva

You can assist with the core temple activities at the iskcon krishna balaram temple: deity-worship preparation (flower stringing and garland making), the kitchen and prasadam distribution and keeping the temple premises clean. These are the most accessible forms of seva and a wonderful way to spend a morning or a few days. See our iskcon vrindavan krishna balaram mandir guide for the temple itself. See our Mathura Vrindavan tour Packages  or message WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

Vrindavan Harinam Sankirtan

Devotees and visitors are welcome to join or support the daily public street chanting (Harinam), reported to run from around 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM near the temple on Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg. It is open, joyful and needs no formal sign-up, simply come and chant; confirm the current timing locally.

Goshala (cow protection)

You can volunteer hands-on to care for and feed the cows at the ISKCON Goshala, which is a central pillar of the temple’s spiritual lifestyle. For anyone who loves animals, it is one of the most grounding and loved forms of seva here.

Eco-farming and community development

The Simple Living High Thinking initiative brings volunteers into its Vedic farm community, including through programs such as Workaway. This suits people who want a longer, hands-on stay combining service, sustainable farming and community life.

Devotee care and medical camps

Healthcare professionals and general volunteers can assist at the Temple First Aid Centre, the Homeopathy Centre or the Free Medical Camp facility. If you have medical, nursing or allied skills, this is a high-impact way to serve the many pilgrims who pass through.

Long-term residential programs

If you want to live at the temple or undergo formal training, these are the routes. Eligibility and rules are set by the temple, so confirm directly.

New Bhakta Department (Brahmachari training)

Unmarried men aged 18 to 35 can apply for a structured Brahmachari spiritual-training course through the New Bhakta Department. The program includes scriptural studies, ashram accommodation and daily temple services, a committed, immersive path into devotional life. Admission and expectations are set by the department, so apply and discuss the details with them directly.

General residency

For other long-term stays, the usual route is to contact the temple authorities or the temple president directly, in person, to go through a screening process and understand the ashram guidelines. Residency is at the temple’s discretion and comes with its own rules of conduct and daily schedule, so an honest, in-person conversation about your intentions and availability is the right first step.

How to apply and get started

Three practical steps to begin. The in-person route is the most effective. Confirm all current details, timings and contacts with the temple, as they change.

Visit the Community Service Centre in person

The most effective route is to visit the Community Service Centre or the Welcome Centre inside the temple courtyard. The Community Service Centre is reported to be open daily, roughly 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 8:15 PM (on Sundays, mornings only). Going in person lets the team match your skills and dates to a suitable seva on the spot.

Contact them online or by phone

You can also reach out ahead of your visit. The reported contacts are email iskconcsc@gmail.com and the service desk on +91 9068047509. Use these to ask what is currently open and whether accommodation is available before you travel. Treat these as reported details and confirm they are current, since temple contacts can change.

Be ready to share your skills and dates

When you reach out, be specific: say what skills you bring (for example medical, cooking, photography, teaching), your exact dates of availability and whether you need accommodation. The clearer you are, the more easily the team can place you in a seva that genuinely helps and suits you.

Planning your volunteering trip

The seva you arrange with the temple; the trip around it is where we can help. Vrindavan is about 12 km from Mathura, with Mathura Junction the nearest major railhead, see our how to reach vrindavan guide. If the temple cannot house you or you are coming with family, you will want a comfortable base nearby; our where to stay in vrindavan guide covers the areas. Many volunteers time their stay for the cooler, more comfortable months; see our best time to visit vrindavan guide. And on your days off, the dhama itself deepens the whole experience, our mathura vrindavan tour itinerary maps the holy sites.

Let us help with your trip, so you can give yourself to the seva

The volunteering is yours and the temple’s; everything around it is where a local makes life easy. As a Brajwasi, I can help you reach Vrindavan smoothly, find a clean, comfortable place to stay near the temple if you are not housed in the ashram, settle in for a short or longer stay and arrange guided dhama darshan on your days off, from Seva Kunj and Nidhivan to Govardhan and Barsana. If family are travelling with you or you want a gentle introductory vrindavan tour package first, we can arrange that too. Message us on WhatsApp at +91-7302265809 and we will take care of the travel side.

"We wanted to visit Mathura and Vrindavan in a single day, and having the travel plan organised made things easier. Abhay ji helped us coordinate the sightseeing so we could focus on our temple visits without worrying about every arrangement. The day was busy but spiritually satisfying, and we appreciated the straightforward planning. This package can be a practical choice for travellers who have limited time but want to visit the main pilgrimage spots in both towns."

"We wanted a short pilgrimage that would give us time to visit the important temples in Mathura and Vrindavan without rushing through every stop. Abhay ji helped organise the itinerary and travel arrangements, which made the trip easier to manage. We liked having time to enjoy the devotional atmosphere and spend meaningful moments at the temples. The two-day plan is worth considering for couples or families looking for a comfortable spiritual break."

"The three-day itinerary offers more breathing room for exploring Mathura and Vrindavan at a relaxed pace. Abhay ji helped with the travel coordination and planning, so we could concentrate on darshan and the spiritual experience rather than managing each transfer ourselves. Having additional time made the visit feel less hectic and gave us a chance to appreciate the atmosphere of Braj. This package may suit travellers who prefer a more leisurely pilgrimage with time for the major temples."
