This Taj Mahal Sunrise & Old Delhi Day Tour from Delhi is designed for travelers who want to experience both Agra’s early morning calm and Delhi’s old city atmosphere in a single day. The plan combines two very different environments—peaceful sunrise at the Taj Mahal and the busy lanes of Old Delhi—so timing and movement need to be handled carefully to keep the day comfortable.
From our on-ground experience managing this route, starting early is essential. Reaching the Taj Mahal at sunrise helps avoid long queues and allows a more relaxed visit, while returning to Delhi by afternoon gives enough time to explore Old Delhi before evening congestion increases. The itinerary follows a practical flow so that both parts of the day feel balanced rather than rushed.
Details are subject to availability & seasonal adjustments

Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel, airport, or preferred location in Delhi NCR.
Travel mode: Private air-conditioned car
Route: Yamuna Expressway
Travel time: approx. 3–3.5 hours
Early departure helps in reaching Agra before sunrise and avoiding highway traffic.
On arrival in Agra, meet your licensed local guide and proceed directly to the Taj Mahal.
During sunrise hours, you can experience:
Softer light and clearer visibility
Relatively lower crowd compared to later hours
Comfortable movement inside the complex
You will spend around 2–3 hours exploring the monument, including its gardens and main structure.
After the Taj Mahal visit, take a break for breakfast at a well-rated restaurant or hotel in Agra.
Options include:
Indian breakfast
Continental dishes
Tea / coffee
This helps you rest after the early start.
Next, visit Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Inside the fort, you will explore:
Mughal palaces and halls
Courtyards and audience areas
Distant view of the Taj Mahal
The visit usually takes around 1–1.5 hours.
After completing Agra sightseeing, begin your return drive to Delhi.
Travel time: approx. 3–3.5 hours
This timing helps you reach Delhi before peak evening traffic.
On arrival in Delhi, continue with Old Delhi exploration.
You will visit:
Jama Masjid – one of the largest mosques in India
Chandni Chowk – explore the local market area
Rickshaw ride through narrow lanes
Spice Market (Khari Baoli) – known for wholesale spices
Red Fort (outside view)
From experience, this part of the day feels very different from Agra—more crowded and active—so the visit is kept structured and manageable.
After completing the tour, you will be dropped at your:
Hotel
Airport
Railway station
Preferred location
The tour concludes with a full-day experience covering both Agra and Old Delhi.
Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.
Old Delhi lanes are crowded; rickshaw is the most practical way to explore.

Ground Truth — FROM SOMEONE WHO DOES THIS ROUTE WEEKLY
Banke Bihari Temple closes the curtain without warning — multiple times daily, for 2–5 minutes each time, during aarti. Most first-time visitors assume the temple is closing and leave. They miss the darshan entirely. Our guide positions you inside before every aarti window so you are never caught outside the curtain.
Arrive at Keshi Ghat before 5:30 AM — the morning aarti begins at 5:30 AM and boats fill within 10 minutes. Visitors arriving at 6:30 AM watch from the shore. Experience My India coordinates your boat the evening before and confirms your seat.
Mathura–Vrindavan road is 11 km but can take 45 minutes — weekend traffic, festival processions, and cattle on the road turn a 15-minute drive into a 45-minute wait. Our drivers know every alternate route and leave buffer time at every stop. We have never missed a temple aarti due to traffic in 8+ years.
Nidhivan is completely closed after sunset — no exceptions — The gates close at 5:00 PM in winter and 5:30 PM in summer. Forest department guards do not permit entry under any circumstances. Plan your visit between 10 AM and 4:00 PM. Experience My India builds this window into Day 1 of every itinerary.

Ground Truth — THE EXPERIENCE NO OTHER OPERATOR EXPLAINS
Most pilgrims describe Vrindavan as the journey they were waiting for their entire life — not because of what they expected to see, but because of what they did not expect to feel. The narrow lanes between Banke Bihari and Radha Raman, walked by pilgrims for four centuries, carry a different quality than any other place in Braj. Pilgrims who visit Vrindavan before Mathura consistently report a deeper experience than those who do it in reverse.
Mathura and Vrindavan are 11 km apart on the same road — not two separate trips. A single well-planned day covers both without backtracking. Our itinerary sequences every stop around temple opening times, aarti schedules, and crowd patterns built from 8+ years of weekly visits. You do not need to research this. We already have.
The timing of each temple visit is not flexible — Banke Bihari has unpredictable closure windows. ISKCON runs on a fixed aarti timetable. Arriving five minutes late means missing the experience entirely. Experience My India has timed every stop across thousands of tours. Your guide knows exactly when to leave each temple to reach the next one before it opens.

Every Friday the general public cannot visit the Taj Mahal because of prayer at the mosque.
The ticket price is made up of two sections: the 'Main Entry' fee for the Taj Mahal, and an optional second fee to view the Main Mausoleum. For those entering from India or with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card, the 'Main Entry' price is ₹50. However, to see the Main Mausoleum, you must pay an extra ₹200, making the full cost for entry into the Taj Mahal and Mausoleum ₹250. Visitors from SAARC and BIMSTEC countries will pay a basic entry fee of ₹540, then an additional ₹200 entry fee to enter the Main Mausoleum, having a total cost of ₹740. For visitors who are from countries outside of India, they will pay a total amount of ₹1,100 for their main entry ticket into the Taj Mahal, and for an additional fee of ₹200 to enter the Main Mausoleum, having a total cost of ₹1,300. Any child who is less than 15 years of age can enter free of charge, and therefore will also be able to enter the Main Mausoleum for no charge.
If you are planning a Monday sightseeing trip in Delhi, it is important to know that the Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum are indeed closed to visitors for the day. However, you can still visit the other two locations on your list! Jantar Mantar is open every day of the week, and thanks to a recent update from the Archaeological Survey of India in February 2026, the Red Fort is now officially open on Mondays as well.

Clear answers to common questions about this tour package, so you can plan your Mathura–Vrindavan yatra with confidence.
Yes, it is possible when the day is planned properly. Starting early for the Taj Mahal and returning by afternoon allows enough time to explore Old Delhi without rushing.
From experience, sunrise visits have lower crowd levels, shorter entry queues, and better lighting, which makes the visit more comfortable and less time-consuming.
The tour typically starts around 3:00 AM from Delhi and ends by 7:00 PM, depending on traffic and time spent at each location.
The journey takes approximately 3–3.5 hours via the Yamuna Expressway, which is the fastest route.
Old Delhi sightseeing usually includes Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Spice Market (Khari Baoli), a rickshaw ride, and an outside view of the Red Fort.
No, the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so this tour cannot be scheduled on that day.
There is moderate walking involved at the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and in Old Delhi markets, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
Yes, from practical experience, rickshaw is the most efficient way to move through narrow and crowded lanes where cars cannot enter.
Visitors should carry valid ID proof, water, and minimal belongings, as security checks are strict at monuments and crowds are high in Old Delhi.
Yes, but they should be comfortable with early morning travel, long day duration, and moderate walking across different locations.
